An Encouraging Update from Portland Cradle to Career Initiative

by Jamie Berg on February 3, 2012

All Hands Raised, a Portland cradle to career initiative, recently released their January update. The update highlights the progress being made by the partnership in areas of student success, the establishment of new collaboratives, and the refinement of student indicators.

Highlights from the update:

  • New graduation data sends a clear message that the partnership is moving in the right direction, with the collective on-time graduation rate in partner districts rising from 57% to 60% in the past year, including promising reductions in the gap between white students and students of color.
  • With leadership from the Steering Committee, the recent work of All Hands Raised has focused on identifying and recruiting “convening partners”, or organizations that can successfully bring together a cross-section of community partners around a shared set of goals. To that end, three new collaboratives have been approved to begin their work.
